Our material is based on 40% tapioca starch and photo-degradable plastic material. By blending the starch inside the photo-degradable plastic structure, we increase the biodegradability of our materials and end products.
When it is buried in soil, after just a few months, the starch will initiate the biodegrading process. During the biodegrade process the material produces enzymes and bacteria, which will attach directly to the photo-degradable plastic chains. This phenomenon will improve the biodegradability of plastic in the short period.
Compare to the time for PE to be degraded, which has a time-lapse decompose of approximately 300 years. On the other hand, our biodegradable products can be biodegraded in a very short time, at an estimated 5-10 years.
